Closure for staff affected by Butyric Acid attack

- One year indicative timber harvest plan 2012
- The one year indicative timber harvest plan for 2012 is now available for public comment. The plan has been prepared in accordance with the Forest Management Plan 2004–2013 and in consultation with the Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC). The plan includes a list of native forest coupes which are scheduled to be harvested in full or in part during 2012.

- Three-year (2011-2013) indicative timber harvest plan
- The Department of Environment and Conservation has recently released the three-year (2011-2013) indicative timber harvest plans for the Swan, South-West and Warren regions.
- The plans have been prepared in accordance with the Forest Management Plan 2004-2013 and in consultation with the Forest Products Commission (FPC).
- The closing date for public comments, in writing or email, is Friday 7 December 2011.

- Forest Management Plan consultation begins
- Consultation has begun with key stakeholders over a new Forest Management Plan which will cover about 2.5 million hectares in the State's south-west. Environment Minister Bill Marmion said the plan would set out, in a transparent manner, the principles and rules by which the State's forests and timber reserves would be managed.

- Forest Management Plan amendment
- The Forest Management Plan has been amended to raise the harvesting level of karri other than first and second grade sawlogs. Environment Minister Bill Marmion said the average annual karri other bole volume had been raised from 117,000 to 160,000 cubic metres per year averaged over the 10-year life (2004 to 2013) of the Forest Management Plan. Mr Marmion said the new harvest level was consistent with the availability of the resource and would allow for improved forest management, including thinning of young karri regrowth and using prescribed burning for protection against bushfires.

- Forest Management Plan
- Forestry Minister Terry Redman expects a draft of the next Forest Management Plan (FMP) will be out for public comment during 2012. The current FMP, which guides the sustainable harvesting of native forests and sets the quantity of sawlogs that can be harvested - runs to the end of 2013.
