Overview of our business
The Commission operates in a rapidly-changing and dynamic environment. It is influenced by domestic and global market forces and State Government policies relating to water use, climate change, salinity and forestry.
To meet its objectives the Commission has developed innovative and strategic policies to work with a wide variety of organisations and businesses.
There are three key business areas in the FPC. They are:
- South West Forests;
- Plantations; and
- Sandalwood.
Environmental responsibility
Ecologically sustainable forest management (ESFM) is one of the Commission's key guiding principles, enshrined in the Forest Products Act 2000, to develop the forestry industry in Western Australia.
In order to deliver on our vision of an environmentally sustainable and commercially viable forest products industry the Commission has maintained its unwavering commitment to protecting ecosystems in which operations are conducted.
This commitment is maintained through rigorous internal processes and environmental controls, continuous education and workforce development, strong stakeholder engagement and independent auditing and certification of our processes, systems and procedures.
